Training Coaches, Bambi Cliffe and Candace Storrer, recently presented at NAEYC 2024 in Anaheim, California! They expanded on a part of FET that most trainers would recognize. The title of their session was: Improve the effectiveness of your training: How to create and use evaluations to improve outcomes. It was wonderful experience for them to present at such a large conference.

What did it take? First, they looked for the “call for proposals.” This is when NAEYC sends its yearly mission for the conference, and asked for trainers to offer sessions, usually December or January. To send a proposal, a trainer does not have to have the training completed and ready. You just need the objectives and outcomes defined and ready to submit. There is a review committee that chooses.

When Bambi and Candace were contacted via email and chosen, they then began to plan the training. They used all of the same guidelines that Training Coaches teach in Fundamentals of Effective Training (FET). They also followed PACES when developing their training plan. After some review, a practice presentation, and re-writes, they were ready! Bambi is a seasoned presenter, and Candace LOVES to speak in public. But they both got the jitters before they presented. However, the session went smooth as butter, and they were so pleased with the results and feedback they received from participants.

NAEYC does not pay for its presenters. Bambi and Candace are so grateful to the University of Kentucky’s HDI Department for sponsoring them! It was a wonderful experience!
