Trainer Summer Camp 2024

July 13th Summer Camp for Trainers took place in Georgetown! It was a fun filled day for all who attended. The day began with a very interactive training on the benefits of Play in training. UK’s Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT) facilitated several training methods trainers could adapt to fit any training they were presenting. The participants were competitive in completing group games and projects.

The mid-day session was an interesting dive into AI and it’s uses in creating content and activities to enhance trainings. Julie Halitzka’s training allowed participants to use their phones or computers to access websites that could aid them when brainstorming thoughts and ideas about a topic. Participants were challenged to explore the sites and create camp themed names and songs for their groups.

The final session (following a camp themed lunch) was S’more New Training Techniques, this session exposed “campers” to training techniques from Trainers Institute 2024. Each session was debriefed (participants were asked to put on a chef hat to signify the shift from participant thinking to trainer thinking). Participants were involved and were able to leave the training with many resources.

The day wrapped up with S’mores and time for participants and Regional Training Coaches to discuss the day.

Keep a look out for other opportunities throughout the year to obtain “How to Train Other Adult” training hours and have some fun!
