Specialty Credentialed Trainers

Listed are the regulations pertaining to a Kentucky Specialty Training Credential:

  • As stated in the Kentucky Early Care and Education Trainer’s Credential and training approval regulation 922 KAR 2:240; Section 10: (2)A Specialty Level “A Specialty Level Kentucky Early Care and Education Trainer may provide training in the individual’s approved area of expertise to an individual who is training…” and
  • “(3) A Specialty Level Kentucky Early Care and Education Trainer shall not provide training on the general topics of early care and education pursuant to Section 2(1)(e) of this administrative regulation.”
  • In addition, in section 11: “(9) A training shall be consistent with the principles of the trainer’s seminar established in Section 4 of this administrative regulation. ALL trainings must be consistent with the Fundamentals of Effective Training (trainer’s seminar) which includes the “Kentucky Early and Education Trainer’s Credential Grid” with the specific training requirements listed for each training credential level.” 

In the interest of upholding the state regulation requirements and continued high-quality best practices, we are informing the Kentucky Credentialed Trainers with a Specialty Credential to share this information as a reminder.

The Division of Child Care audits trainings and monitors training events for compliance with the above regulations. As stated in 922 KAR 2:240 Section 15 (1) The cabinet shall revoke a Kentucky Early Care and Education Trainer’s Credential from a trainer who:

(a) Falsifies a record;

(b) Fails to comply with the requirements established in Section 11 or 12 of this

administrative regulation; or

(c) Does not preserve the confidentiality of training and trainee records.
